Can the Saints make the playoffs this season? A look at their remaining schedule and the NFC South

The Saints are shockingly bad this season.  I did not expect them to be affected this much by the loss of their head coach.  Drew Brees has decided he has to share his opinion on all the big issues in the NFL after being out front during the lock-out and now with the bounty scandal.  He's actually becoming obnoxious.  He needs to spend more time preparing and less time complaining.

Here's a look at their remaining schedule, predictions and the rest of their division.

@ Denver - Peyton is rolling now in Denver, Broncos win.

Philadelphia - The Eagles are up and down but they will be able to score on the Saints and play enough defense to win.

Atlanta - The Falcons are playing great football and take advantage of a down Saints team.

@ Oakland - The Raiders are perennial cellar dwellers and even the Saints can beat them.

San Francisco - The 49ers have the best defense in the league, this will be a great match-up.  The 49ers average offense is better than the Saints awful defense, 49ers win.

@ Atlanta - The Falcons still too strong for the Saints.

@ Giants - The Giants are playing good football and Eli is outstanding.  No chance the Saints win here.

Tampa Bay - The Bucs are building their team and will be solid under their new coach.  However, the Saints are better than them now.  Saints win.

@ Dallas - The Cowboys are up and down but I expect them to be up for the Saints in Dallas.  The Cowboys win.

Carolina - The Panthers are falling apart this season and the Saints win their final home game.

The Saints have fallen apart this season with their coach suspended.  I did not expect them to have this much trouble with Drew Brees in place.  The Saints finish the season 5-11 and I don't see anyway they can make the playoffs.

Here's a look at the rest of their division:

Atlanta (15-1)
Carolina (2-14)
Tampa (5-11)

  1. I can't believe you think the Saints are a 5-11 team. No mention of an entirely new defensive scheme to learn and then all the drama of the off season. They probably won't make the playoffs, but if anyone can after a 0-4 start it is Brees and the Saints.

  2. It appears that Goddell got exactly what the controlling owners of the NFL wanted - An extremely slim if not no chance for the Saints to be at home for a Super Bowl. His proof is bull**** which is why he has constantly refused to present it. In a true court of law he and the controlling owners (Patriots, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, NY Giants) doesn't stand a chance. All of the teams have participated in BOUNTY programs. Just listen to the older players. Goodell needs to be replaced with someone who is really qualified and not just a puppet. Where oh where is another Pete Roselle.

  3. When The Saints Beat Denver--do not wait,do not make excuses..just bow your sorry head and tells us how this tripe was as sorry as you are.

I also think we'll beat Atlanta in one of the games.

  4. The NFL Comissioner is behaving in an obnoxious manner by attempting to be right rather than fair in dealing with the so called bounty scandle dispite the woeful lack of evidence and unreliable witnesses he is using to justify his position. Only a hater could draw any other conclusion. Drew Brees has every right to be critical about unfairness that effects his livelehood. YO MAMMA
